About Me

engineer, he/him, we are young and life is fun

Hi, my name is Kevin Bui! I like to program and make keyboards, sometimes.

I’m currently studying Computer Engineering (with concentration in Computing Hardware & Emerging Architectures, as well as Systems & Architecture) at Georgia Tech. I chose this major because I wanted to understand how technology works from the ground up—how software talks to hardware, how systems scale, and how everything fits together. It’s a challenging path, but I love every second of it.

My recent trip to Da Nang, Vietnam. December 2024.

I’m family is from Vietnam, and growing up as a Vietnamese-American exposed me to all sorts of different perspectives. Living between two cultures taught me how to adapt quickly and think from different perspectives. It also gave me a deep appreciation for community and the value of building tools that empower people, not just impress them.

Being part of a Vietnamese immigrant family also taught me the value of hard work and resourcefulness early on. Like many kids in immigrant households, I grew up translating documents, fixing the Wi-Fi, and helping my parents navigate the digital world. It wasn’t always easy, but it made me independent and solution-driven. That mindset—of figuring things out even when the odds aren’t in your favor—shaped how I approach tech, school, and life.

My advisor and I celebrating our First Place Overall Win at the 2024 Georgia Technology Student Association Conference. I competed and placed top 3 in projects in Software Development, Data Science, and more!

I’ve been obsessed with computers and breaking things for as long as I can remember; my earliest memories come from playing Counter Strike: Source on my brother’s ancient desktop computer. Video games like Counter Strike were my introduction to programming as I learned to create mods and scripts for my favorite games.

Since then, my never-ending pursuit for knowledge has led me down the worlds rabbit holes of server management, game development, web development, machine learning, and more.

As a student, I look forward to diving deeper into how systems work and developing impactful solutions for people! This website showcases my experience across different areas of tech, reflecting my passion for systems thinking and building real-world solutions. Whether it’s a personal project, a class assignment, or a spontaneous idea at 2 AM, I love using code to bring ideas to life.

Outside of coding, you’ll probably find me tinkering with old hardware, playing strategy games, or learning something new (most recently: Ansible and localizing my own LLM). I believe that technology should be accessible, intuitive, and made for people—and that’s what drives me to create.

In the meantime, feel free to check out my projects or read about what I’ve been learning on my blog.
